Downs, Smith, Styles and Ohio State coach Ryan Day will all meet with the media on Tuesday, July 22, the first day of festivities at Mandalay Bay.
Ohio State’s media days selections include no surprises as Smith and Downs are considered the two best players in college football while Styles is expected to be the Buckeyes’ top leader in 2025.
Downs is entering his second year at Ohio State after transferring to OSU from Alabama. The superstar safety earned unanimous All-American honors in his first season as a Buckeye as he recorded 82 total tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, six pass breakups, two interceptions and a 79-yard punt return touchdowns while serving as the centerpiece of the nation’s No. 1 defense.
Smith is also entering his second year at Ohio State. The sophomore wide receiver enters 2025 as the face of college football after a spectacular freshman season in which he caught 76 passes for 1,315 yards and 15 touchdowns, including the game-clinching 56-yard catch in the national championship game against Notre Dame.
Styles, the lone senior among Ohio State’s media days participants this year, is coming off a strong first season as a linebacker for the Buckeyes. The former safety recorded 100 total tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss, six sacks, five pass breakups and a forced fumble in 2024 and is expected to be one of the nation’s top LBs in 2025.
Those Buckeyes will be joined by players and coaches from Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Nebraska and Rutgers on the first day of Big Ten Media Days. Representatives from Minnesota, Northwestern, Oregon, Penn State, Washington and Wisconsin will take the stage on Day 2. The final day of media days will feature representatives from Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Purdue, UCLA and USC.
