Ohio State has added another North Carolina transfer to its roster.
One week after former Tar Heel defensive end Beau Atkinson committed to the Buckeyes, former North Carolina long snapper Grant Mills announced his commitment to Ohio State, giving the Buckeyes a second long snapper on their 2025 roster.

Mills is expected to be a walk-on at Ohio State, so he won’t count against the Buckeyes’ 90 scholarships for the 2025 season.
Adding a second long snapper was a need for the Buckeyes after walk-on Morrow Evans entered the transfer portal this spring. John Ferlmann returns for his third season as Ohio State’s starting long snapper, but Ohio State did not have a backup long snapper following the departures of Evans, Collin Johnson and Max Lomonico from last season.
Mills brings a full four years of eligibility to Ohio State after one year at North Carolina. The Mooresville, North Carolina, native appeared in two games for the Tar Heels in 2024, making one start against Georgia Tech.
I had my first start as a true freshman on Saturday against Georgia Tech. Snapped 9 for 9 - all in the zone. Here is film of two of my snaps. #GoHeels #TrueFreshman pic.twitter.com/iNu2GF04Tw
