Will Howard is “officially” a Buckeye.

After the Buckeyes' Student Appreciation Day, the new Ohio State quarterback had his black stripe removed. Saturday marked the program's eighth practice since the start of spring football.

Howard committed to Ohio State in January after four years at Kansas State, where the 6-foot-5, 242-pound signal caller completed 58.8% (458 of 779) of his passes for 5,786 yards and 48 touchdowns with 25 interceptions while also rushing for 921 yards and 19 touchdowns.

In 2023, Howard completed 61.3 percent of his passes for 2,643 yards and 24 touchdowns with 10 interceptions and ran for 351 yards and nine touchdowns.

At Ohio State, Howard has competed with Devin Brown, Lincoln Kienholz. Julian Sayin and Air Noland for the coveted title of QB1. Brown and Kienholz saw limited action for the Buckeyes last season, while Sayin and Noland arrived in Columbus in January as top prospects in the 2024 class.

In addition to Howard, new Ohio State offensive lineman Seth McLaughlin had his black stripe removed. McLaughlin arrived in Columbus in January after four years at Alabama.
