After putting their skills on display for Ohio State fans over the past three to five years, seven of the Buckeyes’ top players from last season auditioned for the NFL draft this week.
Former Ohio State wide receivers Chris Olave and Garrett Wilson, tight end Jeremy Ruckert, offensive linemen Thayer Munford and Nicholas Petit-Frere and defensive linemen Haskell Garrett and Tyreke Smith all participated in this week’s NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis, where they looked to impress NFL scouts both on the field and in the meeting rooms.
Olave and Wilson went through on-field workouts on Thursday night and tore up the track with their speed, as both of them broke 4.4 seconds in the 40-yard dash, with Wilson’s official 40 time coming in at 4.38 and Olave’s official 40 time coming in at 4.39 (down from an unofficial time of 4.26 seconds). Ruckert did not participate in any on-field workouts due to a foot injury, though he did participate in the bench press.
Munford and Petit-Frere went through their on-field workouts on Friday, when Petit-Frere ran a 5.14-second 40-yard dash and Munford ran a 5.39-second 40.
Garrett and Smith went through their on-field workouts on Saturday. Smith ran his 40-yard dash in an official time of 4.86 seconds while Garrett ran his 40-yard dash in an official time of 5.07 seconds.
