Dylan Thompson's 2016 season is over before it began.

Ohio State ruled Thompson, a 2014 three-star DE from Lombard, Illinois, academically ineligible for 2016 fall semester, Urban Meyer said Tuesday night in Chicago at Big Ten Media Days.

Thompson came to Ohio State in 2014. He fractured his kneecap in his first fall camp with the team, costing him his true freshman season. Thompson did not play in 2015, either.

While it's unclear if this means the end for Thompson in a Buckeye uniform, Urban Meyer issued a stern warning to his defensive lineman earlier in the year.

"Do something," Meyer said in March. "And underline that. Do something."
