Hopefully the University Student Government got the message: the Mirror Lake Jump is awesome and it should be around until the end of time.

PARRIS CAMPBELL SQUADS UP. Parris Campebell, a burner out of Akron, was the last (non-currently injured) scholarship freshman to lose his black stripe:

WISCONSIN IS BIG TEN FAVORITE? So says ESPN's Football Power Index:

Wisconsin EH

Wisconsin? I guess I could see it. The Badgers certainly looked formidable for a half against LSU, and it's not like anybody else in the B1G has looked up for it in 2014.

I've been thinking: the Big Ten race will actually be one of the more interesting Big Ten races in quite some time. Anybody could win it.

Well, except for you, Purdue.

LOOK AT THESE GOOFBALLS. In April, according to an ultra-scientific poll, only 19% of 11Wers said the would trade Urban Meyer for Jim Tressel if given the chance.

It appears times may have changed (via @RyanGinnBSB):

loooool

Look, I love Jim Tressel, but, uh... these people are insane. Ohio State had peaked under the Vest.

Sure, Jim Tressel probably wouldn't have lost at home to Virginia Tech (talk about an emphasis on special teams), but that doesn't mean Jim Tressel is an upgrade over Urban Meyer in the year 2014.

We saw what happened when Jim Tressel put his best against Urban Meyer's best, but even so, this Tweet from a Michigan fan was somewhat rattling:

I don't think Tressel would take the job, but while he wouldn't be an upgrade over Urban Meyer, he'd certainly would be over Brady Hoke. (Why am I helping Michigan again? I need to stop this.)

RISK OF RECRUITING BANGERS. Urban Meyer rolled out the red carpet during the Virginia Tech game for a bevy of elite high school talent, as he had done in previous years against the likes of  Nebraska, Penn State, and Wisconsin.

The previous affairs worked out fine, but the Buckeyes hit a bump against Virginia Tech. And to make matters worse, Urban and company had to sell the program the next morning.

From Ari Wasserman of cleveland.com:

"Obviously (losing) is a challenge," co-defensive coordinator Chris Ash said. "It's kind of a downer when the game is over and then next day you're spending time with the recruits. ...  You might have to put your happy face on a little bit instead of being in a really good mood. That part is a little different."

[...]

"I know we live in the now here, but we have to kind of have some foresight for where this program is going," running backs coach Stan Drayton said. "This program is going to be very dynamic here very soon, and players who have enough maturity to see that, one loss doesn't change the opportunity to get great recruits."

2015 recruiting seems to be in a bit of a lull at the moment, and it's not like losing to Virginia Tech was a good thing.

However, I'm still somewhat shocked Ohio State lost that game. Granted, given the performance, the Buckeyes deserved to lose. But still.... I didn't think that was possible.

PRIME NEBRASKA. Obviously it was due to the nature of the game, but Ohio Stadium certainly didn't sound as raucous as I expected on Saturday night. Let's hope it's not because people like these Nebraska season ticker holders are now in the majority.
