Ohio State’s top remaining wide receiver target won’t make his college decision today.
Jerquaden Guilford, who was set to commit on Friday afternoon, announced Friday morning that he was postponing his commitment, calling it “the hardest decision I’ve had to make so far in my journey.”

Ohio State appeared to be in the driver’s seat to land Guilford’s commitment after he visited OSU twice last week. Following his official visit to Ohio State last weekend, a wave of recruiting insiders predicted that Guilford would become a Buckeye.
“They say it’s Wide Receiver U for a reason. Stats don't lie,” Guilford told Eleven Warriors after his first visit to Ohio State last week. “People lie, girls lie, everybody lies, but the numbers don't lie.”
Things started to change on Thursday, however, when On3’s Steve Wiltfong and several other recruiting analysts predicted that Guilford would instead commit to Ole Miss. The Rebels clearly gave Guilford something to think about, as he canceled his commitment announcement with 247Sports, which was scheduled to take place at 5:30 p.m. Friday.
While Guilford is rated as just a three-star prospect (No. 68 wide receiver, No. 439 overall prospect) in the 247Sports composite rankings, and the Buckeyes already have four wide receiver commits in the 2026 class, Ohio State’s continued push for him has made it clear he’s a priority target for Brian Hartline. The Fort Wayne, Indiana, resident was the only uncommitted wide receiver to make an official visit to Ohio State this summer.
That said, Ohio State would likely be content to stick with the wide receiver class it’s already assembled if Guilford chooses to go to Ole Miss or elsewhere. The Buckeyes already have a formidable wide receiver class for 2026, led by five-star prospect Chris Henry Jr. and his Mater Dei High School teammate Kayden Dixon-Wyatt along with four-star prospects Brock Boyd and Jaeden Ricketts, that will keep Hartline’s run of excellent recruiting going even if he misses out on Guilford.
