More than 500 of the Midwest’s top prospects will descend upon the famed Massillon Washington High School on Saturday morning to compete in the Nike Football’s The Opening Canton Regional.

It’s the 11th stop of the country-wide regional tour, with only a trip to Las Vegas next weekend remaining on the schedule.

Prospects are measured and tested in the 40-yard dash, power ball toss, shuttle run and vertical jump. They also receive instruction from coaches and participate in one-on-one drills within their various positions.

The schedule is as follows:

TIME EVENT
10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. OFFENSIVE AND DEFENSIVE LINE CAMP
12-2:25 p.m. RUNNING BACK AND LINEBACKER CAMP
1:20-5 p.m. QUARTERBACK AND TIGHT END CAMP
2:30-5 p.m. WIDE RECEIVER AND DEFENSIVE BACK CAMP
5-5:15 POSITION MVPs, OPENING INVITES ANNOUNCED

The event is headlined by a trio of five-star prospects in Olentangy Orange defensive end Zach Harrison; Huntington, West Virginia, offensive tackle Darnell Wright; and St. Louis Trinity Catholic quarterback Isaiah Williams, with each looking to punch their ticket to The Opening Finals later this summer.

The 6-foot-6, 240-pound Harrison is undoubtedly Ohio State’s top target, and was one of just six underclassmen invited to last year’s Finals. Wright is widely regarded as the No. 1 player at offensive tackle, a position of great need for the Buckeyes. Williams, meanwhile, became Illinois’ first five-star commit in a decade after he pledged his services to the Illini in March.

Following the event, positional MVPs will be named and several prospects will earn an invitation to The Opening Finals; a record 17 invitations were handed out during the Dallas Regional last weekend.

Two future Buckeyes — Texas five-star wide receiver Garrett Wilson and West Virginia four-star offensive tackle Doug Nester — have already punched their ticket to the event. Mentor four-star defensive end Noah Potter has a chance to join his classmates this weekend, though he might not participate as he nurses a sore back.

The Opening Finals will be held June 30-July 3 at The Star in Frisco, Texas — the state-of the-art indoor practice facility of the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys. It was previously held at the Nike World Headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon.
