The future stars of Ohio State football officially begin their college careers, as standouts from all over the country put pens to their National Letters of Intent.

Last January — just weeks before National Signing Day — then-Ohio State four-star wide receiver commit Tyjon Lindsey suddenly opted to decommit in the middle of the night and pledged his services to Nebraska just a few days later.

The two programs have essentially switched roles this recruiting cycle, however, as St. Louis Christian Brothers College four-star wide receiver Cameron Brown announced he’s changing his pledge from the Cornhuskers to the Buckeyes on Wednesday, the first day of the Early Signing Period.

The Brown File

  • Class: 2018
  • Size: 6-foot-1, 175 pounds
  • Pos: WR
  • School:  Christian Brothers College (St. Louis, MO)
  • Composite Rating: ★★★★
  • Composite Rank: 58 (WR)

The 6-foot-1, 175-pound Brown is considered the 58th-best wide receiver and No. 339 prospect overall in the Class of 2018. He initially committed to Nebraska in May, but reopened his recruitment shortly after Ohio State offered him a scholarship during a one-day camp in June.

Brown made the trip with current teammate and fellow wide receiver commit Kamryn Babb, which is why most believed the two would end up in Columbus together as a result.

Wide receivers coach Zach Smith did a solid job building a relationship with Brown over the summer, but it wasn't enough to land his pledge when he set a new announcement date and recommitted to the Cornhuskers in August.

However, as the program struggled to another subpar season under head coach Mike Riley, Brown began to look around. He attended Ohio State's 48-3 win over Michigan State in mid-November, which was about the time the Buckeyes began seriously considering taking three wide receivers this cycle.

Riley's firing last month — and new head coach Scott Frost’s subsequent decision to not retain wide receivers coach Keith Williams — played a key factor is Brown's decision to decommit from Nebraska, and this weekend's visit sealed the deal for Ohio State.

Brown becomes the 22nd member of the Buckeyes' Supreme '18 recruiting class, joining the aforementioned Babb and four-star L'Christian "Blue" Smith at the position.
