After weeks of speculation – and sped up perhaps by firing of head coach Art Briles last week – IMG Academy four-star quarterback Kellen Mond has decommitted from Baylor.

Mond visited Ohio State for the Buckeyes' spring game in April and told 11W in early May that it was the Scarlet and Gray who were recruiting him the hardest.

"Beck was at the school," Mond told Eleven Warriors. "Auburn, Ohio State and Texas A&M are recruiting me the hardest right now — Ohio State the hardest, though."

Since then, Mond has also started to hear a lot from Auburn, and there's some speculation that it's the Tigers – not the Buckeyes – who could be the choice if he were to make a decision sooner rather than later. This weekend Mond will be in Los Angeles for the Elite 11 finals and it's believed a final decision could actually happen before then. He told us last month he definitely wanted to have his recruitment finished by next month.

"I picked July because by that time I want to be representing my school all the way at The Opening," he said. "I don't want any stress with recruiting."

Ohio State has Danny Clark committed for 2017 and they're actively looking to add another quarterback to the class. Mond and five-star Tate Martell are the contenders at this point.

Stay tuned.
