Bruce Thornton is the third 2,000-point scorer in Ohio State history.

The Ohio State point guard reached the 2,000-point milestone on Tuesday as he scored 27 points to lead the Buckeyes to an 86-69 victory over No. 24 Wisconsin, Ohio State’s first ranked win of the year.

In the process, Thornton passed Jerry Lucas and William Buford, who are now tied for fourth all-time with 1,990 career points, to move into third on Ohio State’s all-time scoring list.

Thornton, the first four-time captain in Ohio State history, has now scored 2,005 points in four years as a Buckeye. He’s just six points away from tying Herb Williams (2,011 career points) for the second-most points in program history, while he needs just 92 more points to break Dennis Hopson’s school record for career points (2,096).
