Buckeyes defeat Bearcats 69-56

After an extended break, the Ohio State women's basketball team capped off a busy weekend with a 69-56 victory over the Cincinnati Bearcats. The Buckeyes jumped out to an early lead, and held on to it for the remainder of the game. The Bearcats would attempt to rally multiple times, but the OSU defense would lock down preventing any Cincinnati rallies from coming to fruition.

Overall, Ohio State played very well on Sunday. The Buckeyes had their best shooting quarter of the season in the first quarter shooting 84.6% with 26 points. In the end, not only was this a victory for OSU, but it was the first wire-to-wire victory of the season. Hopefully, many more will follow. This Wednesday the Buckeyes will travel out west again to face off against the Washington Huskies in Seattle. Tip off is set for 8 p.m.

Women's Basketball's Dorka Juhász named Big Ten Freshman of the Week

Thanks to a pair of stellar performances, freshman Dorka Juhász was recognized as the Big Ten Freshman of the Week. Juhász recorded two double-doubles against North Carolina and Cincinnati that helped lead the Buckeyes to victories in both games. For the week, Juhász averaged an impressive 17.5 points and 14.5 rebounds.

Against North Carolina, Juhász reached season highs with 18 points and 16 rebounds, helping the Buckeyes snap a six game losing streak in the Big Ten/ACC challenge. Juhász notched 17 points and 13 rebounds against the Bearcats just three days later. Hopefully, Juhász can continue to play well as the Women's Basketball team begins to find their stride.

Women's Ice Hockey shuts out Minnesota State 2-0

Ohio State women's ice hockey shut out the Minnesota State University Mavericks at the Verizon Center on Sunday. OSU's first goal came from sophomore Tatum Skaggs on a power play just under eight minutes into the game. This was Skaggs 11th goal of the season. Junior Samantha Bouley would score several minutes later in the first period to double the Buckeye lead, recording her second goal of the season.

After scoring twice in the first period, Ohio State would spend the remainder of the game defending their two goal lead. Goalie Andrea Braendli was exceptional, making 27 saves to keep the Buckeye lead, and the shutout, intact. Ohio State will close out 2018 with a series against the Mercyhurst Lakers on Saturday, December 15th at the OSU Ice Rink. Puck drop is set for 3:07 p.m.
