The Cleveland Guardians are currently 11-9 after a 4-2 win over the Baltimore Orioles on 4/16. Parker Messick pitched 8 no-hit innings before Jeremiah Jackson of the Orioles led off the 9th with a single. Cleveland won the game 4-2 after some tense moments in that final inning with the tying runners in scoring position for Baltimore.

The starting pitching for the Guardians has been overall very good to date, with 3 starting pitchers, Parker Messick, Gavin Williams, and Joey Cantillo all with ERA's under 3.00. There are mixed reviews about the bullpen. Rookie Chase DeLauter has cooled off after making a big splash early with 5 HR's, but has still been productive with RBI's and has shown some good defense in RF. Angel Martinez has a hot bat, and with his versatility in the field has proven to be a valuable player. Kyle Manzardo's bat is heating up which is important with Jose Ramirez batting in front of him.

Cleveland has won 3 series so far, beating the World Series Champion LA Dodgers 2 of 3, downing the Cubs 2 of 3, and then beating division rival Kansas City 2 of 3. The Guardians began the season with a 2-2 split at Seattle.

No one in the AL Central is off to a blazing start, so the Guardians should be able to stay in the Division race as long as their pitching will carry them. A little more offense would certainly put them in a spot where they could win the Central.
