A big ol' turd to finish March. 1-4-1 in our last 6 games. The season seems to be on life support now. Puck is definitely not going CBJ's way, which is expected to happen at points, but now is not the time to find an offensive slump. Last night's 5-2 loss against Carolina was only the third multi-goal loss under Bowness. Injuries are stacking up with Voronkov (hand), Severson (upper body), and Olivier (upper body) out multiple weeks.
Current playoff picture -
Atlantic Division:
- Buffalo Sabres, 100 pts, 7 games remaining
- Tampa Bay Lightning, 98 pts, 8 games remaining
- Montreal Canadiens, 96 pts, 8 games remaining
Metro Division:
- Carolina, 100 pts, 8 games remaining
- Pittsburgh, 92 pts, 7 games remaining
- New York Islanders, 89 pts, 6 games remaining
Wild Card:
- Boston Bruins (Atlantic), 94 pts, 7 games remaining
- Columbus Blue Jackets (Metro), 88 pts, 7 games remaining
Playoff bubble:
- Ottawa Senators (Atlantic), 86 pts, 8 games remaining
- Detroit Red Wings (Atlantic), 86 pts, 8 games remaining
- Philadelphia Flyers (Metro), 86 pts, 8 games remaining
- Washington Capitals (Metro), 85 pts, 7 games remaining
There are 3 teams behind us in the wild card standings, all 2 points back, all 1 game in-hand on us. We make the calculus easy by just winning the last 7 games, but that's unlikely with the remaining schedule: @ Carolina, v Winnipeg, @ Detroit, @ Buffalo, @ Montreal, v Boston, v Washington
New York Islanders are the only team in the playoff picture with a tougher schedule than CBJ's. NYR is toughest (lol), NYI 2nd, CBJ 3rd. Closest after that is Boston in 7th. Pittsburgh has the easiest schedule remaining in 24th.
Should be interesting. Ready to get my heart broken yet again! CBJ!!!
