The Cleveland Browns are now 2-7 after a 27-20 loss to the 2-7 New York Jets. The Browns' special teams had a complete meltdown in the 1st quarter, allowing a kickoff return for a TD and a punt return for a TD. Cleveland's defense once again played a respectable game, but a lackluster offense combined with the special teams' problems doomed the Browns. One of the bright spots for Cleveland was Quinshon Judkins who rushed for 75 yards on 22 carries. Going into the game Judkins led all rookies with nearly 70 YPG. Dillon Gabriel tossed 2 TD's and had some decent runs, but overall the Browns' offense didn't move the ball all that much against the Jets' defense. The Browns O-line had a horrible day with pass protection. Cleveland did get an INT which set up one TD deep in NY territory. Kicker Andre S. went 2 for 2 on FG's.
The Browns moved up in the draft order after the Jets win, Miami beat Buffalo for their 3rd win, New Orleans got their 2nd win after beating Carolina, and Jacksonville lost to Houston after a 4th quarter collapse by the Jaguars. The Browns own Jacksonville's 1st round pick.
Baltimore comes to Cleveland on Sunday, and the Ravens have a lot of winning momentum after beating Minnesota to go to 4-5. The Browns have had success vs. the Ravens at home the last couple of seasons, but this time around it will take Cleveland's best effort to beat the Ravens with Lamar Jackson back from injury.
Is it time for the Browns to see what Shadeur Sanders can do, or should Dillon Gabriel continue to be QB1?
Go Browns!!
