Urban and company have made it clear that if you are a good football player, they are going to find you and offer you, regardless of location/school size. They have gone to South Dakota, Utah, etc. to try to find these players. But they are the exception, not the rule.
The reality is that the large, well-known, nationally ranked high school programs command much of the staff's attention during each recruiting cycle. (And for good reason, as they play better competition and produce higher quantities of D1 talent).
But, as HS programs ebb and wane, we have seen new schools pop up on the radar, and traditional pipelines start to fade. A good example of this is Cleveland's Glenville Academic Campus. Ted Ginn Sr. had a powerhouse program in the 2000's, and OSU signed 22 kids from the Tarblooders from 2002-2014. None since.
In the recent past, we have seen the rise of IMG Academy, Bishop Gorman, Erasmus Hall, and St. Thomas Aquinas, with multiple recruits and targets from each of these schools.
What does the future hold? With Wyatt Davis and Jaiden Woodbey, is OSU establishing a St. John Bosco pipeline? Will Palaie Gaoteote keep the Gorman pipeline going? Is TTUN's improvement under Harbaugh going to end the Detroit Cass connection?
What schools should OSU be targeting that they aren't? Does OSU need to (re)establish any HS pipelines within the state?
