Fletcher was a bell cow type back for Miami and hurt us.  Miami didn’t win a natty, Notre Dame had great RBs and got excellent QB play, but lost early before the QB developed, missed playoffs. The RBs weren’t great until the QB improved.  We won in 24 with excellent RB productivity but it was our QB that opened the floodgates during our playoff run.  But neither back was a bell cow.  Michigan was kind of running back led in 23 but they were a tandem if I recall.  Georgia was well rounded with amazing TE contribution, solid running and very serviceable college QB play.  LSU had Burrow and dominant receivers, Bama was solid everywhere like Georgia, and Clemson had Sunshine.
To my memory Derek Henry, and Zeke were probably the most load carrying bell cows in the past dozen years.

Last year Jackson and West (late) were serviceable and also, injured, backs as freshmen against an easy schedule.  This year they’re joined by a promising Legend.  Do we need to color outside the lines by paying DGG a king’s ransom on potential and likely causing a domino effect in RB departures?  Man I’d love to stick it to TN, but there’s no guarantee he’s a proven bell cow and certainly could cause murmurings amongst proven players even at other positions.  We got a taste of that with JJ and his talent spoke for itself.  Even at that, our other wideouts began filing through the exit doors.  Can a top notch RB in a system that presumably won’t be a bell cow system be worth a possible culture shock?

I want I want I want, but I like I like I like, what our, now veterans, along with Bey promise.

I say take DGG at what the position pays, but don’t overbid in this auction, because really it’s one player,  playing a position that isn’t what it used to be a decade ago.  We may actually win by losing this recruiting battle.
