Watching have to start rolling out the QB in the second half to take pressure off of him I'm wondering how much that really matters to the defense if he never runs. Sure the guys rushing have to chase him a bit, but it's not like a LB has to stay in to shut down the potential outside run. I know Sayin is a small guy, but there are lots smaller QBs than him that run regularly. Doesn't it seem like we would put way more pressure on the defense if Sayin would occasionally run?

It's not just roll outs though. There were a few times when I saw the IU defense drop back so far that there was at least 10 to 15 yards of grass in front of Sayin. He keeps looking for guys, which has worked all year when the blocking has been good. But against a really good defense he might have that same kind of time. 10-15 passing yards might seem as good 10-15 running yards. The thing is that it lets them keep playing tight pass coverage and next time there might be no one to throw to. A few QB draws, or scrambles might go a long way to keeping a defense honest.

Finally of course we could have a few true option runs, not Saying either handing off or passing, but Sayin either handing it off or keeping it himself. He can slide if anyone gets close to him. It just seems like we are playing with one hand tied behind our back if our QB never runs. This whole issue reminds me of what a difference it made to our offense a few years ago when Stroud finally took off on a few runs against Georgia.
