Jon Gruden posted this video on fixing the CFP. While I'd rather Ohio State and Indiana didn't play an additional game, I get playing for the B1G Championship is important. And these two teams are in the CFP guaranteed. Others not in their Conference Championship games have a 'bye'. The Ohio State / Indiana winner gets a bye while the loser plays the first round. I recall that last year, all the teams that received a first round bye lost their next CFP game.
Ohio State didn't play in the B1G Championship Game, played the first round, and went on its legendary roll to the title. So, I can see advantages and disadvantages.
Injuries in the B1G Championship - Bad, of course. Though of course these can happen in any CFP going forward but you want to hit the CFP as close to 100% health as you can and the time off between the end of season and the CFP games is essential for this.
Having specifically kept the snap counts down, Ohio State played almost a full game less than any other CFP team, so they have less wear and tear and have 'baked in' the ability to play and additional game and not have higher snap counts to put them at a disadvantage versus other teams. - Good, of course.
Thoughts on Gruden's plan? A lot of what he says makes sense IMO.
