There are several National Coach of the Year awards in college football, and given Ohio State’s consistent success under Ryan Day, the 46-year-old will likely be a semifinalist for all of them for as long as he leads the Buckeyes. That trend continued this year — at least when it comes to the George Munger Award.

Day is one of 24 semifinalists for the George Munger Award. Past winners include current Notre Dame coach Marcus Freeman (2024), former Washington and current Alabama coach Kalen DeBoer (2023), and former Tulane and current Houston coach Willie Fritz (2022).
Despite his sustained success at Ohio State, Day has never won a National Coach of the Year award. In his six full seasons as the Buckeyes’ head coach, he has been named Big Ten Coach of the Year just once, in 2019.
