Care: Rushing Game?

I think we learned today that we don't have a run game that would be dependable against a top-tier DL. Illinois did give up long drives due to us getting yards but our running game had a ton of moments where our guys ran directly into defenders without trying to avoid them, missed blocks (Right Guard near goal line, the play where JJ got hurt), and general low impact plays that aren't threatening to a defense. It could have been play calls that were too obvious or uncreative, but it wasn't inspiring.

Don't Care: Comparing to the Indiana game

Indiana is all sorts of legit, especially after taking down Oregon on the road today. But transitive property doesn't work in college football and it's going to be talked about how we didn't best Illinois in the same dominant fashion. It doesn't matter. We beat them considerably and while playing poorly for how we know we can play.

Care: Defense showing vulnerabilities

The Igbinosun issue arose today and if I'm a coach I'm targeting him significantly in the future. He was extremely aggressive and got away with at least four plays I can remember that we're definitely PI, and flagged during the game as well. He does turn to look for the ball which is awesome, but he is going to get hammered by flags one of these days we play another QB who can throw down the field well.

The defense also showed itself to be vulnerable against tempo while in zone when a QB who can sling it is behind center. That was exploited by Illinois and they were able to move the ball at will once they figured it out. I expect Patricia to fix that but it was noticed.

Care: Mag-why-er

Maguire shouldn't be our punter anymore. I'm sorry. He just isn't reliable, good, or anything remotely helpful. I'd rather have an occasional shank with longer punts otherwise than consistent 40 yards or less punts that out the opponent in great position. He's not the guy.
