I live in Arizona. My neighbor and his wife are what we call snowbirds. They live half the year in Arizona and half in Gig Harbor, WA. John and Gail, our neighbors, are huge Huskies fans. They arrived Arizona yesterday and we caught up last night. The primary topic of conversation, as you might imagine, was Saturday's game.
John's mentality going into the game was that Washington had a shot. After the first quarter, he felt they had a huge opportunity to pull the upset. But at some point, as he put it, reality set in and it became clear to everyone in purple that the Bucks are playing at a different level. They are too big, too fast, too skilled, too tough and too well coached for a team like Washington to beat them.
John then took it a step further and asked which teams Buckeye fans are worried about. My reply was Michigan, always, Penn State, Oregon and possibly Indiana if we meet in the B1G Championship. I also mentioned that Illinois and Wisconsin on the road are worrisome. You might gather that I'm a bit of a worry wart when it comes to the Buckeyes.
Anyway, his take is that there is not a team in the country that can hang with OSU. Not Miami, not Georgia, not Oregon, not Alabama, not anyone. And for the same reasons that Washington came unglued. Buckeyes are too big, too fast, too skilled, too tough and too well coached. It's kinda fun to get the perspective of an opposing fan who is also quite knowledgeable with respect to the college football scene.
