All,
The regular season is 4/14ths of the way done, basically 1/3 done. Enough time for Clemson and Notre Dame to accrue a win. Anyway, we're in the 'nothin but conference games' part of the season. And, OSU has a real opponent with a real QB (sorry Arch, you were pretty horrid weeks 1-3).
As always I checked ESPN's scoreboard and noted the 'Tickets as low as' value. And, this doesn't take into account fees and other expenses ticket sites tack on.
Before I show the table, I noticed a post on reddit: Ohio State has Priced Out Real Fans and Families
I went to the OU game as a recent grad in the last few years. $88 ticket for a MAC game and like $20 for a beer and pretzel. Tickets to any big ten game from the worst to the best are damn expensive, practically unrealistic for any family of 4+. Long gone are the days of average families getting together to go to see the buckeyes on Saturday. Just sad to see the sport drift away from its wholesome past
Yep, poster isn't wrong; however, all live forms of entertainment are traveling this path. Supply and Demand plus OSU has 36 Varsity sports to fund while only two make money. Also, it's not solely OSU, but the 3rd party ticket brokers.
Home | Away | As Low As | Notes |
---|---|---|---|
Minnesota | Rutgers | $37 | haha, 11 AM start |
Illinois | USC | $70 | #Bert |
Iowa | Indiana | $84 | |
Northwestern | UCLA | $94 | NW has a tiny stadium |
Washington | OSU | $145 | Gonna Be Damn Good TV |
PSU | Oregon | $435 | Not a Typo |
Only One Game Under $50
- If a team that lost to Cal hosts Rutgers, would anybody care? No.
Olive Garden for 3 Money
- Illinois Hosts USC -- surprised there's interest after the clobbering. But, perhaps the tickets were already high before 63-10 whomping in Indiana.
- Indiana @ Iowa - If Iowa wins, they have a playoff push argument. They usually have a defense.
- UCLA @ Northwestern - UCLA is dreadful, winless - Northwestern has 1 victory
- So why is this pricey? Because Northwestern has a converted soccerfield with no capacity.
B1G Ticket Item
- OSU @ Washington -- Washington has a willing and able QB that can give any D fits
- sorry but shutting down Arch Manning doesn't count. Arch had 10 consecutive incompletes against UTEP (now cue the disagreements in the comments section below)
- For Washington fans, they are undefeated and hosting #1 team in nation... surprised it ain't higher to be honest.
Price so high I had to triple check to see if it was typo
- 2024's leader in regular season excellence, Oregon visits PSU coached by Big Game James
- Two teams in the top 10 of virtually ALL Polls from preseason to now -- who ya got?
