After two games, one against a behemoth, and one against an obviously overmatched opponent, this team is as fundamentally and schematically sound as any team of memory - Buckeyes or otherwise. To achieve this level of play so early is almost always due to the coaching staff and the buy-in from the leaders on the team, who then reinforce that teaching to the younger players. Of particular note is the play of our offensive line and our defensive backfield.
Our line play has been exceptional. The combo fits and overall footwork are just outstanding. We are now routinely getting to the second level, which wasn’t a common sight last year until the championship run.
Our defensive backs are executing NFL schemes with fundamental soundness. Given what I’ve seen so far, I think this could be the best unit we’ve ever had, which is quite a statement.
What we haven’t seen yet, is how this team will respond when it gets punched in the face. However, as of now in order to beat this team, our opponents will have to play inspired, disciplined football for 60 minutes, to which I say, good luck.
Early Salute to Our Coaching Staff and Team Leaders
