I came into Spring expecting an inevitable significant degradation somewhat on defense, having lost all the great starters we did.
Now I'm not so sure about the level of drop off. Maybe a case of fan blindness due to deep rose colored lenses and excitement of all the offseason reports of the leaders to emerge, but I think overall this 2025 defense may be even more feared by opposing teams.
The veteran leadership of the previous D-Line (Jack , JT, DH, TW) always knew what to do to keep the play in front of them. Add in a Cody Simon to fill any remaining gaps and they absolutely minimized what the opposing teams could do.
But I think we will see an overall increase in team speed and aggressiveness on the D-line, LB corps and secondary that will cause absolute chaos for offensive coordinators.
Overall, I think they will give up more yards and points due to an uptick in broken plays at times and higher risk/reward planning by Patricia, but more sacks, tackles for loss and forced turnovers and it will be beautiful to watch our freaks wreak havoc a good chunk of the way.
So pumped up for Aug 30th. Thoughts?
