So we had 3 of our former QB’s drafted yesterday

McCord - pick 181 to the Eagles

Howard - pick 185 to the Steelers

Ewers - pick 231 to the Dolphins

 I’m stunned that McCord went before Howard.  
 

I’m also amazed by how much Ewers botched-up his college career. I have no animosity about it since we got our natty last year but I think if he would have entered OSU when he was originally supposed to and stayed for 3-4 years in Columbus we would have still gotten our natty, he would have been much better developed having stayed in our program with Day and our staff, he ultimately would have gotten drafted much higher and he probably would have made more money.

At the very least he should have stayed in college and used his last year of eligibility rather than declare for the draft.  Estimates are that based on his draft slot he will make about $1M per year under his rookie deal in the NFL.  Based on Carson Beck’s deal at the U Ewers probably would be making at least $3M in 2025 if he hit the portal and stayed in college one more year.  He’d also have another year to prove himself in college and very well could have been drafted much higher in 2026.

It seems like Ewers got a lot of bad advice - forced his way into college a year early to grab a bag earlier then jumped out of OSU to grab another bag from Texas even though he would have been better off under Day.  Then he rushed into the NFL when he almost certainly would have benefitted from another year at the college level.  
 

His life so his decisions but it doesn’t seem like he made the best ones to me.

I’m glad all 3 of these guys were drafted and have a landing spot. My guess is Will Howard ends up having the longest and best career out of the 3.   Time will tell…
