Good morning fellow warriors! For today's fare, I present to you black bean burgers!

Now, I will acknowledge this is a bit off from our usual fare. A bit behind the reasoning for me making these:
Over the summer (and oh boy, it's been crazy) we finished our trip to Disney World. My 20-year-old is notorious for ordering and not finishing meals. On this trip, she decided to share a few meals with either my wife or my 14-year-old. (Mod Edit: 15!)
For one dinner, we went to a family favorite, "50's Prime Time Cafe". These fools shared a sampler. This plate included a fried chicken breast, which the 20-year-old decided that, instead of cutting it in half, she was going to attempt to rip it. I HAVE NO IDEA WHY!!!!!!
As a result, both kids were disgusted and decided to go off of meat for a while; this puts me in a bind, because I am a meatatarian. I wanted to support them and go healthier sometimes, so I adopted this recipe.
The details:
• 1 (16 ounce) can black beans, drained and rinsed
• 1/2 green bell pepper, cut into pieces
• 1/3 onion, cut into pieces
• 3 cloves garlic, peeled and diced
• 2 eggs
• 1 tablespoon chili powder
• 1 tablespoon cumin
• 1 teaspoon hot sauce (I used the US Navy's preferred hot sauce, Texas Pete.)
• 1/2 cup bread crumbs
Preheat an outdoor grill for high heat, and lightly oil a sheet of aluminum foil.
• In a medium bowl, mash black beans with a fork until thick and pasty.
• In a food processor, finely chop bell pepper, onion, and garlic. Then stir into mashed beans.
• In a small bowl, stir together egg, chili powder, cumin, and chili sauce.
• Stir the egg mixture into the mashed beans. Mix in bread crumbs until the mixture is sticky and holds together. Divide mixture into four patties.
• If grilling, place patties on foil, and grill about 8 minutes on each side.
Serve on a bun of your choice, with condiments.
I have read that you should dry the beans a bit before making this, but that turned out to be a PITA. That made the mixture too dry; I ended up adding a second egg.
That being said, I hope you give it a try, and enjoy!
