I was a bit confused after the season was cancelled why it was Nebraska, Iowa, and to a lesser extent Penn State pushing for a season but not Minnesota. Coming off an amazing 2019 campaign with a lot of talent returning (at least offensively), it looked the the Golden Gophers could compete again for the Big10 West. Tonight's loss to Iowa (35-7) demonstrates exactly why things were quiet in Minneapolis. Fleck knew this team couldn't come close to duplicating last year and didn't want to row the boat this year. After back-to-back close loses to Purdue and Northwestern, Iowa is certainly looking better, albeit against weaker competition.
