I knew what the Big Ten requirements were due to following Big Ten football, but never researched what the SEC requirements were.
I ran across an article by a USA Today writer that interviewed SEC commissioner Greg Sankey and found the following. SEC teams can play as long as they have 53 scholarship players available that have not tested positive, as long as they have 1 QB, 7 O-linemen and 4 D-linemen. Which includes opt-outs, suspensions and injuries. The Big Ten? If 7 1/2% of players and support staff test positive or around 13 people, they don't play.
Also, the Big Ten Tests every day, the SEC only 3 times per week.
Obviously the two conferences are not playing by the same rules, but did not realize the disparity.
