Former Ohio State defensive back Malcolm Jenkins will officially become an NFL free agent on Wednesday.
The Philadelphia Eagles announced Tuesday afternoon that will not be exercising his $7.6 million contract option for the 2020 season and that Jenkins and the Eagles have mutually decided to part ways.

Jenkins had said that he would not play under that $7.6 million option this fall, and instead of working out a new contract agreement with the Eagles, Jenkins will now be looking to sign with a new NFL team. Even though he's 32 years old, Jenkins is still among the league's top safeties and should be a coveted player on the open market.
In six seasons with the Eagles, Jenkins made three Pro Bowls and became a revered player in Philadelphia as one of the team's top leaders. He helped lead the Eagles to their first-ever Super Bowl championship three seasons ago, becoming the first-ever Buckeye to win Super Bowls with two different teams.
One of the greatest to ever wear midnight green.
