He gave us his very best.
Almost 3 weeks have passed and I've finally come around to looking into the CFP game a bit and something stuck out. I apologize if this has been discussed before.
Situation: Bucks get the ball on their own 16 yard line down 21-16 with about a minute left in the 3rd quarter. We haven't done much on offense since we shot out to a 16-0 lead (farthest drive went to Clemson 45 yard line) and Clemson has rattled off 21 unanswered points. Fields just threw his second pick of the season on the previous drive and our star running back is hobbled with an ankle injury. Fields is also clearly limited a bit by his knee injury which has affected his ability run. How does JF respond?
He goes 15/17 for 139 yards including an incredibly clutch TD to Olave on 4th down before throwing a ball on the money that would've put us up 1 with less than a minute to go. On the last drive, he marched us right down the field in a minute, taking what the defense gave him and putting us in a position to win the game.
With our season on the line in the 4th quarter of a CFP game, our 20 year old sophomore QB played his very best football.
If you guys didn't already know...this kid is special.
Go bucks and on to 2020!
