As he builds his new staff at Boston College, Jeff Hafley has hired one of Mickey Marotti's assistants to lead his strength and conditioning program.
Phil Matusz, who was the associate director of strength and conditioning at Ohio State, is leaving the Buckeyes after six years of working under Marotti to become the head strength and conditioning coach at Boston College.
“Being able to work alongside Phil at Ohio State, I was able to see the positive impact he had on the development of our student-athletes and our football program,” Hafley said in a news release. “We could not be more excited to have Phil leading our strength and conditioning program here at BC Football and we welcome him and his wife Jillian to our BC football family.”
Matusz served as second-in-command to Marotti in the strength and conditioning program for the past three years after starting at Ohio State as an assistant strength and conditioning coach in 2014.
