Because it seemed there was some conflicting information, I went seeking information regarding where the Buckeyes would play if they're the number one seed. A lot of people, including myself, are/were under the impression that the number one seed gets to choose their destination. That's actually not the case, according to what I found on the CFP protocol website:
https://collegefootballplayoff.com/sports/2016/10/24/selection-committee-protocol.aspx
See under number 9 "Pairings for Semifinals":
9. Pairings for Semifinals
When assigning teams to sites, the committee will place the top two seeds at the most advantageous sites, weighing criteria such as convenience of travel for its fans, home‐crowd advantage or disadvantage and general familiarity with the host city and its stadium. Preference will go to the No. 1 seed.
