Tracy Sprinkle's stint with his hometown NFL team was short-lived.
The Cleveland Browns waived the former Ohio State defensive tackle on Friday, just six days after signing him and one day after playing their first game of the preseason against the Washington Redskins.
Sprinkle's release comes as a corresponding move after the Browns signed another defensive tackle, Brandin Bryant, who formerly played at Florida Atlantic and most recently played in the Canadian Football League.
Scott Petrak of the Chronicle-Telegram, who first reported the news, wrote on Twitter that the Browns are leaving the door open for Sprinkle to potentially return to the team in the future.
