Glenville defensive tackle Jamir Perez flips his commitment from Florida to Ohio State.
Let me start off by saying that I am playing devil's advocate with myself here. I am a Dwayne Haskins fan, and I know that a lot of us here are. Dwayne Haskins is seemingly the favorite to win the QB job. Not a clear favorite, but I believe most people would agree that he is the favorite out of the 3 competing. So with that being said, I would like to ask everyone reading to think about something.
2 things I have read recently got me starting to think about this. The first thing was someone on this site had made a comment saying that they cannot wait to see the Forum when our next quarterback has a bad game. The other thing I read was something about how when someone has a significant other who has certain shortcomings, they look for someone else who exceeds where their significant other lacks. But when the replacement is made, we often realize that the replacement had more shortcomings then the original.
Referring to the second piece, I think the reason why reason why so many of us love Haskins is because he offers us exactly what JT doesnt have, a strong, accurate arm. But I think we often fail to recognize Haskins shortcomings. Haskins is easily the least able running quarterback out of Braxton, Cardale and JT. I worry that with Haskins at the helm, his inability to effectively run the read option will give our offense new limits that we will need to work around.
I think Haskins is most comparable to Cardale. Strong armed, passing QB not heavily used for QB run. But we've seen how the offense was with Cardale at quarterback, it had its dysfunctions.
Should we expect the same dysfunctions we saw with Cardale with Haskins? What will our offense turn into when Haskins isn't on target, since he cannot rely on the run like someone like JT or Braxton? How important is the read option to a Meyer offense?
Let me hear your thoughts
sorry for the post screw up before.
