Despite speculation about his academic standing keeping him off the field this season, Ohio State cornerback Shaun Wade has been dealing with a torn lower abdomen muscle since the spring.
This according to his father, Randy, who told Eleven Warriors on Friday afternoon Wade tried to play through the injury not knowing what it was. He also reaffirmed his son's grades are not the issue.
"Oklahoma practice, he could not bear the pain," the elder Wade said. "[He] was pulled out of practice for an MRI."
Wade was then given a plasma injection to speed up the healing process.
Head coach Urban Meyer mentioned Wade's injury during his radio show Thursday but did not elaborate further. He is expected to be back at practice next week ahead of the Buckeyes' highly-anticipated matchup with Penn State.
