Our offense is not having issues or woes. This is OUR offense. People think are offense is Brad Pitt and we should be scoring points like Jennifer Aniston and Angelina. Our offense is more Matthew Broderick pulling Sarah Jessica Parker.
After rewatching both games 3 times this week (luckily on youtube you can watch the full games in 40 minutes), Kevin Wilson has not called bad games and we are playing just about as good as one can hope (besides one or two bad plays). Us as Buckeye fans need to come to the realization that our offense is not that good for one reason.
The one reason is that JT cannot throw the sideline ball in cover two/corner route (between corner and safety) and this cannot be fixed. Without a QB that can throw this, a defenses game plan is drastically easier. This also allows safetys to play more aggressive. LBS can play downhill and safetys/corners can play with their eyes in the backfield more.
When JT does throw this ball, it usually sails on him. I don't think he has thrown a good ball to Baugh this year and many of his deep balls hang because of low velocity. JT runs a near perfect option read which in many cases makes up for his throwing (this is why he is still playing).
Jt is a great QB and buckeye but without NFL all star quality players to distribute to on this team, his weaker arm and long motion has shown the glaring hole in our offense. Our run game is amazing, o line has held up, and receivers when they do get the ball in their hands are electric.
As long as personnel stays the same, we should expect to drop 40+ on weak opponents, 30's on mediocre and 10-25 on good ones just cause of our athleticism. Depending on our defense, is if we win or not.
So we as fans need to either swallow how our offense is or make the drastic decision and bench all record book JT for Dwayne. I for one love JT but with JT we will lose 1-3 more games and we will probably lose the same with Dwayne but he will have some playing time under his belt for next year. I also have the terrible view than if Dwayne comes in and crushes it, the playoff committee will give us a pass cause we have a different QB.
Do we come to grips and play tressel ball hoping to win out or do we demand a change?
