In Week 7, Ohio State had its undefeated season stuffed.

PENN STATE'S OFFENSIVE NUMBERS

The Nittany Lions entered the game as the nation's 82nd-ranked offense in total yards (391.5) and averaged 30.5 points per game. Trace McSorley completed 8-of-23 passes for 154 yards and a touchdown. The sophomore quarterback also rushed for 63 yards and a touchdown. Saquon Barkley ran for 99 yards and averaged 8.3 yards per carry. Mike Gesicki caught 4 passes for 46 yards and had the key block on McSorley's touchdown run. Chris Godwin had 2 receptions for 39 yards and a touchdown.

Although Penn State was held to 2-of-13 on third down, 115.5 yards below its season average in total offense and 3.5 points below its scoring average, James Franklin's offense was bailed out by its defense and special teams.

PENN STATE'S DEFENSIVE NUMBERS

Ohio State gained 413 total yards of offense against Penn State. That is 31.5 yards more than what the Nittany Lions allowed for the season. PSU was able to hold the Buckeyes to 168 rushing yards. Penn State became stingy in the red zone as the defense held the Ohio State to two field goals on both trips inside the red zone.

Ohio State's offensive leaders were: J.T. Barrett who completed 28-of-43 passes for 245 yards and a touchdown. The talented quarterback's passing numbers were up, but he never appeared comfortable in the pocket and only rushed for 26 yards on 17 carries. Curtis Samuel had a team-high 8 receptions for 68 yards and rushed for 71 yards and a score on 2 carries. Mike Weber gained 71 yards and averaged 3.4 ypc. Marcus Baugh reeled in 5 catches for 55 yards and a touchdown in the loss.

PENN STATE'S SPECIAL TEAMS 

Place kicker Tyler Davis made one of his two field goal attempts and all three of his extra point attempts. The Nittany Lions kick coverage team was able to limit Parris Campbell to 16.8 yards per kickoff return and stopped him behind the 20 several times. Miles Sanders had 89 kickoff return yards and averaged 22.3 yards per return with a long of 27.
