I've been thinking about only having 3 Captains this year for 100-120 players. That's a lot of people to lead. I know there are other leaders on the team who have or will emerge.
This made me consider what a leadership structure MIGHT look like giving Urban Meyer's emphasis on culture.
BRIEFLY: What if each of the 9 Units elected a leader (or two) in their room as a Lieutenant? This more formal leadership structure would example leadership & accountability, plus provide fertile training/proving ground for future Captains of the team.
It gives more formal positions for players to aspire to and allows players (and the position coach) to determine amongst their unit who is and is not a leader.
