UFM's feelings about the color blue are well documented and most definitely well founded.

As history has shown (here and here), Meyer has absolutely zero tolerance for the color blue in Buckeye Nation. Don't even try to test him because it's not going to end well.

He's been known to jokingly ask a student to leave Student Appreciation Day because they made the wrong color choice.

Hell, UFM has even asked Lou Holtz, who hired him at Notre Dame, to correct his choice of colors during a visit to tOSU. He's not messing around here people!

So when UFM decides to adjust his feelings towards the color blue, you know it's kind of a big deal, right? That's what makes this announcement such a news worthy item:

For one day, Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer will permit people to wear the color blue inside the Woody Hayes Athletic Center. As long as there is some red and white to go with it.

Now we are talking about blue inside the WHAC so you know there has to be some good reasoning behind this temporary loosening of the rules, right?

Per Bob Hunter of the Columbus Dispatch, the Buckeyes will have a Memorial Day-themed workout on Friday where players will be wearing red, white and blue.

It's part of OSU's "Patriot Week" where the players will have four days of seminars to learn about the importance of voting, the complicated voting system in this country, interesting notes about American history and more.

“(Friday is) going to be what we call a Memorial Day workout,” Meyer told the Dispatch. “The players are going to be wearing red, white and blue, and we’ll have some fun with it. They’ll also take a test on what they’ve learned the previous four days, and before they leave on Friday for the holiday weekend, they’ve got to pass that test.

“We’ll make an exception that day (regarding wearing blue)."

So there you have it folks. A damn good reason for making a one day exception to a damn good rule. Let's just hope that everyone is having some fun with it but not forgetting that yes, there will be a test at the end of this if you want to leave and enjoy the long holiday weekend!

Just remember that even when he's having fun, he's always keeping score!!
