Here we have it, another day another thread.  As always it's F TCUN.  Not as active today because we're enjoying a wonderful holiday in June!

Here's what I pulled from the last thread (it's a lot, with a guest appearance by milhouse because it stuck out to me):

Posting this link at the top, it was near the bottom of the last thread but I thought it was a great find, Sonny Dykes thoughts on TCUN:  https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/other/sonny-dykes-demands-strong-action-on-michigan-sign-stealing-after-blasting-absurd-cfp-agenda/ar-AA1H07VQ?ocid=msedgntp&pc=ASTS&cvid=85e2dd18bf90422989740a2c19a0144b&ei=26

Posted this just now in the previous thread but realized it should be shut down already so posting here too:

It was only natural, but how quickly these threads devolved into arguing with the very sources of important and (most importantly) correct information throughout the entire scandal simply because their opinion differs from one's own is astonishing.

There is no monetary gain here for Brohio (maybe aside from the documentary?), PD, or 22 and is simply because of their OSU fandom and desire to learn about this and share information. Why anyone would want to go head to head against them because they believe the punishments are too light/wrong is beyond me.

Brohio, for example, has nothing to gain whether he is correct or incorrect. Debating him is pointless because: 1) you are guaranteed to have less information than him unless you are PD or 22, and 2) even if your differing opinion ends up correct, you win nothing and Brohio is surprised and happy just like the rest of us.

How about we, as a community, stop in-fighting because you want a different outcome than one of the most reliable sources of this entire scandal (outside of the actual COI)?

Commenting on the previous thread, let me say for what feels like the hundredth time, I don't know what the sanctions will be (no one does) and I've never made a prediction.  I have repeatedly said that the NCAA has an extremely strong case with irrefutable evidence.  How that consistent statement gets translated into weak sanctions is a mystery to me.

I have tried to correct some inaccurate reporting from different voices but that shouldn't imply anything about what the NCAA will or won't do.  Let's review some things that have been wrong:

- An "imminent NOA for stolen practice footage".  That was reported by several people back in April and I said then that was not true.  That was not an opinion; I knew for a fact that wasn't happening so I called it out.

- "Mike Hart was the whistleblower".  Wrong, and I said so many months ago.

- "Alex Yood was the whistleblower":  Also wrong.  But that doesn't mean Yood (and Hart) didn't offer information.  I know that both were interviewed by the NCAA after their investigation was launched.

- "Gambling concerns were the genesis of the NCAA's investigation".  That has been reported at different times and in varying degrees over the last 18 months.  It's also wrong.

As for some other stuff that has come up here... for the poster here who is obsessed with the "minimum framework", I have never heard it from any of the people I talk with, which is why I don't comment on it.  For those reporting on the B1G's role in this, I agree with Brohio that they are tired of the distraction of the scandal and want to "move on".  Will the member institutions put pressure on the B1G to act anyway?  I think that's possible, as the conference was extremely concerned when the story broke.  Many here don't believe the B1G did any investigation of their own, but I know for a fact that they analyzed hard drives, videos and even video recognition software taken from Michigan.  The NCAA's investigation was so complete there wasn't much left for them to do but the B1G did closely examine evidence.  I don't know if they will add their own sanctions to the NCAA's in the end, so I won't make a prediction on that either.

Miss a few days, and you miss a lot it seems.  One of the big conferences in my industry (BIO) is currently taking place here in Boston - the past week and this week have been 16 hour work days for me, every day.  Throw in a wedding in Dennison, and it has been insanely busy. Appreciate you all keeping the commentary, and healthy debate going.

As others have stated, no one knows what the punishment will be.  Anyone saying they know is either lying or speculating.  I shared with 22 privately a week or more ago that a surprise came in the form of a high-ranking member of UM canceling their appearance at BIO.  Why is that important?  This was one of their best chances to get in front of VC investors, and really pitch their ideas and the work they’ve done.  They also are out thousands of dollars in registration fees.

They flat out said to me that it is “not a good time” and it is “stressful” at UM currently.  For those not following along - many things are hitting UM at once that is not related to football or athletics.  For the purposes of our discussion here, this issue (sign stealing) is a thorn in their side and they have been briefed on how conversations went in Indianapolis.  Notice, the main theme is that all sides got to share their stances.  Nothing else positive has come out.  The other issues are much larger than stealing signs.  Reputations and millions of dollars have clouds hanging over them, due to a variety of really negative news stories.

Many things will have to be addressed up north, and sign stealing is on the list, but certainly not the top priority.  Now, for the speculation part - given all of this, I see UM accepting whatever punishment the NCAA levels against them.  I’m just seeing too many dollars flying out of their doors to attorneys and external advisory groups to help navigate more pressing issues.

I would agree; however, they’ve been absolutely hammered with multiple issues recently.  I’m sure they’ll pay lip service to fighting punishments, but like the suspensions last season, all of the amicus briefs won’t change the fact that they inevitably accept the punishment(s).

BPL mentioned his relationship to someone at UM on the research side.  Those are the stories and the people I connect the most with.  Completely innocent and want nothing more than to provide superior care to people - when and where they need it.  Anyone can DV me, but the level of care they provide to people who need it the most is something that should be applauded.

Actually, Nevada said I'm a "blowhard whose viewpoint is all over... he's staked out every position so he can claim victory one way or another".  I think everyone here knows that's not true.  Nevada also knows that's not true.  He knows me from my time as a Scoop subscriber, when he used to PM me for information.  Let me tell the story of why he's now on the warpath.

The top "source" on Scoop is The Helping Technician.  He's described by Scoop as a former OSU player and coach who has daily access to the Woody, watches practice and grades players.  I noticed that THT was extremely critical of several members of OSU's extended staff, particularly Jerry Emig and Mark Pantoni.  That seemed crazy for a guy supposedly embedded in the program so I contacted a member of OSU's staff I know and asked about THT.  He immediately informed me that THT doesn't exist.  It's a dummy account used by Ken to slam members of the staff that he blames for him and Kirk losing their media credentials.  Please don't take my word for it -- I urge anyone who doesn't believe me to contact OSU.  You'll get an earful.

The OSU staff is furious about the fake persona / dummy account and I know they spoke with Kirk about it and told him to stop.  He and Ken refused because they need a phony source to make up for the fact that no one from Scoop is allowed in the facility.  So, the staff member and I cooked up a little trap for them.  THT started a thread criticizing OSU for having "kids" in the coaches box instead of older, more experienced guys.  The staff member gave me the complete list of who was in the box and then I entered the thread.  I asked THT who was up there that he had a problem with.  "He" gave me a few names and then I responded that none of those guys were in the press box.  The thread was immediately closed and then deleted.  The OSU staff member was logged in and watching with me and we got a big laugh out of it.

Really, though, it's not funny because Scoop used a phony source to smear OSU staff members they didn't like.  Their sourcing on the Michigan scandal doesn't appear to be any better.  They've had at least 3 podcasts in the last year titled "Michigan Whistleblower Revealed", each tossing out wrong names (they've speculated on Mike Hart, Josh Gattis and Matt Dudek, smearing those innocent guys in the process).  And those aren't the only things they've gotten wrong about this scandal.

A week or two ago Brohio suggested that when this is over we have a contest comparing sources.  I will happily compare mine (and I do have the receipts) with Scoop's.  Let's put our cards on the table and see who is telling the truth.
