In particular, basketball seems to be the worse when it comes with this, especially when these fathers/coaches also run AAU programs so a college that gets an in with that college to his kid(s) also gets an in to other players on the AAU team.

I always had an issue with the McGuff hiring Kelsey Mitchell's dad to get Kelsey in the fold only to see him leave as soon as she graduated. He went right back to high school coaching when she left so clearly he had no interest in developing a career as a college coach.
And given its USC in this case maybe we will have a front row seat to them getting nailed for it.
