So I'm going to be taking my son (15) along on a driving business trip to Chicago, Grand Rapids, and Detroit.  Not sure why he wants to go to be honest, but it should be some good bonding time.

So we're going to be in close proximity to two campuses that contain two of College Football's other Blue Bloods, and while I detest both, I figure both for myself and him, we might need to consider swinging by and checking out a sight or two just to say we spit our gum on their sidewalk.  1-2 hours is what I'm looking at and I'm fine with doing a Griswald Grand Canyon take on things like the stadiums, touchdown jesus, various buildings, etc.

Any thoughts or tips on what to see, where to park, and or at what jaunty angle to wear my OSU cap?

Also, anything along the way that you might suggest?  East Lansing, Indiana Dunes, something else?
