I found the term "outplay the coaching" as thrown out by former scUM RB/assistant and current Morgan State HC Tyrone Wheatley to be very interesting. He said it means that players have to will themselves to perform and adjust on the field and not rely on the coaches to put in a "perfect" play for them every time. That, according to him, is the attribute/mental attitude of a NC contending team. I found this to be an interesting rebuke to the X-box jockey attitude put forth regarding real life play calling by many fans. Do coaches have an offense and a philosophy-absolutely. Is it the responsibility of the players to rise above the constraints of the specific call/scheme and perform to their physical and mental maximum-absolutely-and this is the attribute of championship teams.
