After UT dumped all of their former AD's texts/emails last week, Max Olsen of The Athletic went through and ran the numbers on who fans were demanding that the school hire.  (Note: the AA is a premium site, however the numbers and references below are all publicly available via UT's data dump.)

Their top choice (with 160 votes) was Lane Kiffin, because apparently they have short memories.

USC OC (and former QB) Tee Martin was second with 111 votes.  23 people demanded they go throw money at Gruden.  Only 8 people were hoping for Jeremy Pruitt, who ultimately got the job.

A few people asked to have the job themselves:

I've not played a down of organized football in my life, but I used to beat my brother so badly in NFL Blitz that he would start crying and telling my mom I was cheating when I wasn't. I always ran a clean program there in my childhood bedroom and would continue to do so at the university I grew up loving and going to games from the age of six.

The real treasure trove is down at the bottom though.  Two people wanted Peyton Manning.  One guy suggested Jim Tressel.  But the real crème de la crème:  someone who was apparently disgusted with Greg Schiano offered up an alternative with a far superior moral record:  Art Briles.
