It looks like the Hawaii/Michigan scrimmage tape controversy was really just practice for reporters looking to hone their skills.  Today on ESPN Radio, Hawaii coach Nick Rolovich admitted that there never was a request for Michigan scrimmage tapes.  He was just kidding.
