There is currently a fundraiser going around Facebook to honor the new reigning Heisman winning quarterback and  Buckeye graduate, Joe Burrow.  As most of you probably already saw his speech on Saturday night, he chose to use part of his acceptance speech to divert the bright lights off of himself and onto his hometown and county of Athens, Ohio, which is in one of the more impoverished areas of this great state.  And it is glorious:

Coming from southeast Ohio it’s a very impoverished area and the poverty rate is almost two times the national average. There’s so many people there that don’t have a lot and I’m up here for all those kids in Athens and Athens County that go home to not a lot of food on the table, hungry after school. You guys can be up here, too.

I know Buckeye Nation is vast and generous.  I’m also very sure we can all get into the holiday spirit and help out our neighbors and help to ensure that no one goes without anymore.
