OK, board doctors or fellow injurees, tell me your experience with herniated discs. I have two in my lower back (L5, S1) that have bothered me off and on since I was 16, after a HS football injury. I'm 30 now. I've done tons (hundreds of sessions overall) of PT, had one injection so far, and have done whatever I can to avoid surgery.
The latest flare up has lasted since early March, and I'm seriously considering the micro discectomy surgery. I've heard a lot of positive and negatives. I'm normally a very active person, and play a ton of golf, rec league sports, go snow skiing, etc, and have been very out of commission lately. Share your stories and give me some advice!
