Ohio State overcomes a slow start to beat Ohio 37-9 in the Horseshoe.
How much force (weight in pounds) does a football have when it hits a receiver's hands (at varying speeds)?
We'll call the weight of the football 14.5 ounces (pretty close - weight of materials - not air pressure). So, at varying impact speeds of 10 mph, 20 mph, 30 mph, 40 mph, 50 mph, and 60 mph* what is the force in pounds at the moment of impact with the receiver at each of these speeds? And I'm sure there are tons of variables, but lets say a calculation accuracy within plus or minus 5% is plenty good enough.
*60 mph is the fastest throwing speed on record at NFL combines - Logan Thomas, 2014.
