Hey, what's up, y'all?
My weeklong inter-semester break is over, and now begins the Summer A semester, which means more teaching, but hey, that's what I'm all about. In other news, I had a lovely week taking my girlfriend to meet my family in Niceville, I signed my book contract, and developed a fungal infection (I'm getting it treated, though). Anyway, back in Miami, back with some more tunes!
Up first is a song my girlfriend introduced me to today by Italian symphonic metal group Ancient Bards. This song, "Through My Veins" is something of a synthesis of classic symphonic metal with some gothic influences, mostly seen in the vocals.
Next is a song you're probably familiar with on some level due to its ubiquitous use as a sports anthem/chant, second perhaps only to Seven Nation Army by White Stripes and Sandstorm by Darude. This song is a classic example of German electronica by Zombie Nation. This is "Kernkraft 400."
Next we have a song from one of my favorite indie groups, as well as one of the most well known. This song was popularized by the indie romcom Garden State, this is "New Slang" by The Shins.
And lastly, I want to close out with some good stick-to-your-bones hip hop. This is "Ms. Jackson" by Outkast.
